Texas Scratch is a band consisting of three hot Texas guitar players and their friends who play foot tapping blues with a hint of southern rock thrown in the mix.
This fine new album showcases the guitars of Jim Suhler (George Thorogood and the Destroyers), the guitars of Buddy Whittington (John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers), the guitars of Vince Converse (Sunset Heights) and the chest pounding drum beat of Jeff Simon (George Thorogood and the Destroyers).
This isn’t just an old fashioned six string shootout or fret shredding contest; these boys have written concise songs with clever lyrics and killer arrangements. There is a mutual respect and sense of joy in their playing and singing and in this fine collection of tracks, it surely shows.
After some live gigs, they all decided that they should definitely go into the recording studio to lay down some of their fan-favored tracks. Add the help of bassist Nathaniel Peterson (Savoy Brown), mix it all up, and what you have is a batch of modern day guitar slinging tunes that you just can’t get enough of. Yup, these fine musicians provide some of the most thirst quenching music on either side of the Rio Grande.
